Surrogate Process

We will connect you with your Surrogate Intake Manager who will assist you with completing your pre-screening. This will include:

• Arranging an interview with your Surrogate Intake Manager.
• Providing physician and facility contact information so we may order your pregnancy and health history records. Sign SLB’s medical release authorization.
• Obtaining medical clearance from your obstetrician
• Signing background check authorization
• Completing the Surrogate profile and Surrogate Confidential information forms.
• Providing insurance benefits details, including an electronic or hard copy of the booklet (if applicable)
• Attending psychological screening for clearance to proceed in the Surrogacy process

We will share profiles with you based on your Intended Parent criteria, preferences addressed in your Intended profile and Confidential information form, and primarily, our conversations.

We at Shining Light Baby believe that a great Surrogate and Intended Parent match is of utmost importance. To ensure this occurs, we evaluate all aspects of a potential match rather than placing people together based on a checklist. With our attention to each party’s preferences and our extensive matching experience, the pieces are in place for a smooth and united experience together.

Once you are matched, your medical screening appointment will be arranged to meet with the Intended Parents’ fertility doctor/clinic. We will handle your travel arrangements including flights, hotel, food allowance, and additional travel expenses and we will make certain all details are taken care of as your screening plans are in place.

Upon your fertility medical clearance, the Direct Surrogate Intended Parent Agreement will be drafted and signed by all parties. All parties must be represented by separate attorneys. Shining Light Baby will connect you with one of the attorneys with whom we work specializing in Third-Party Reproduction, including Surrogate representation and contract negotiation. We will make certain you are in the best legal hands and pertinent information needed from our end is handled in a timely fashion.

After you and your Intended Parents have signed the Direct Agreement, you are able to begin the medication protocol for your upcoming transfer! Such an exciting time for everyone! The fertility pharmacy will send your medication to your home and you will begin according to your provided calendar. During this time, you will take injectable medications along with pharmaceuticals in other forms such as patches, vaginal suppositories or oral medications. You will be provided a calendar by the fertility center letting you know daily which medications to take and when. Additionally, when you have your medical screening appointment, make sure to tell the nurse coordinator if you need any clarifications.  If you are having a frozen embryo transfer, the date will be pre-scheduled, if it’s a fresh embryo transfer, you will be informed of the embryo transfer date once the embryos are created, and at that point, it will likely be five days later. We will help with all travel arrangements for your embryo transfer, including flights, hotel, food allowance or any additional travel expenses.

If you are not in driving distance from the fertility center that you are using for the IVF procedure, we will assist you in locating a local monitoring clinic for your pre and post embryo transfer appointments. During the pre-transfer monitoring appointments, you will have your hormone levels tested and ultrasounds to check your uterine lining. Post-transfer, you will also have your hormone levels tested and ultrasounds to confirm the early stages of the baby, such as the fetal pole and heartbeat. If you are using a monitoring clinic, the Intended Parents’ fertility doctor will send orders and the monitoring clinic will submit results accordingly.

You are pregnant! Congratulations to you and your Intended Parents! Shining Light Baby will remain in frequent contact with you throughout the pregnancy to ensure everything is taken care of and all of your concerns are addressed; we are here for you each stage of your process and through the birth of this miracle baby/these miracle babies. We will assist with your birth plan arrangements and continue to follow-up post-birth to make sure you are doing well and that all final financial items, including medical bills and any corresponding bills due, are taken care of.
